Musings in Heaven

Chloe McCarrick, 2020

Giclee print unframed/framed

Print size: A1-A4 & cropped square

This artwork is a feminine take on the ancient Roman God of new beginnings. Looking to the past and the future with two faces, it is a representation of self-reflection, transition, growth and time. A depiction of both public and private faces and in what means we choose to reveal them.

This limited edition fine art print is from an original cyanotype which was created by constructing a hand-cut collage using female photographic portraiture and the surface textures from lunar photographs. After coating the handmade paper with light-sensitive chemistry, it is left to dry in a dark room. The large scale negative is then contact printed onto the paper by exposing to daylight (UV rays). The print is then processed by thoroughly washing in water to remove any unexposed solution. It can then be hung to dry, developing to full density Prussian blue after 24 hours. The original artwork was professionally scanned and giclee printed onto fine art paper, each print in the edition is hand finished with 24-carat gold leaf. Available in A1, A2, A3, A4 and in square sizes, in or without bespoke black or white frames with anti-reflective AR70 glass. Please select from the options below.

Photographer Chloe McCarrickArtist: Chloe McCarrick

Chloe McCarrick is a renown fine art photographer and mixed-media printmaker. Best known for her circular cyanotypes and still life photography of feathers, she embraces and develops innovative ways of reworking photographic images through collage and mixed-media print techniques, and by blending science, darkroom alchemy and art. Her work explores the boundless possibilities of image production in the age of modern printmaking with an aim to reinvent, recycle, redefine, experiment and preserve.

Female empowerment, natural history and science are recurring themes across Chloe's work. She constructs visual narratives from the lives of extraordinary, trailblazing women - celebrating their achievements, uncovering their struggles and telling the stories of these often unsung heroes. By creating an army of heroes/sheroes, she is attempting to give them a voice, to transform their stories into symbolic pictorial form and in turn hoping these protagonists' positive message inspires others.

"I hope people are empowered by the story behind each piece and that the subject matter ignites imaginations and a curiosity to delve deeper. The key emotion is to feel connected - connected to the story, the techniques and the science behind the work, and to be connected to the elements of nature I introduce to explore human experience and the relationship between each of us, and the world we live in

Chloe exhibits internationally and her work is collected around the world.
