Pure Love

Ilaria Perra, 2018

Print on brushed aluminium

Size: W30xH30 or W40xH40cm

Limited edition of 25

Ilaria is an artist working in multiple media and disciplines. For these prints on aluminium, she uses original photographs and digital-generated fractal art as the base and gives them an etching effect obtained by time consuming digital manipulation of colour and texture. Her aim is to recreate the etching effect without the use of chemicals and lengthy process that the actual etching plates require. The results are printed straight onto the surface of the brushed aluminium Dibond panel using UV Fine Art pigments in a 7-colour print process. The bright parts of the image are omitted from the print, leaving the brushed aluminium visible.

Pure Love is a composite of Ilaria's original photograph taken at The Chelsea Flower Show of a driftwood sculpture by James Doran Webb. This image symbolises the purity of unconditional love, with the soft colours and the etching effect on brushed aluminium giving it the added resonance of shimmering light. This work is available in different sizes. Please email info@mintarts.com with your requirement.

Ilaria Perra is a mixed media artist, with a degree in Fashion from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, a National Diploma in Art and Design from Chelsea College of Art (1998) & Design and a Diploma in Graphic Design from Shillington College. She was awarded the Colins Barnes Drawing Prize for her digital illustrations and invited to teach as an associate lecturer at Central Saint Martins for over 15 years, specialising in Adobe Illustrator and CAD for fashion design.

Most of her work is characterised by an experimental approach through the manipulation of surfaces, exploring ways to inject energy, adding textures and movement, whether working with traditional media, such as acrylic mono printing and mark making on glass and paper or creating tactile digital art on brushed aluminium Dibond. Her distinctive work as an artist and designer is the result of many years of studying and experimenting; from watercolours, botanical illustrations, portraiture through to silkscreen, heat transfer printing, mono printing, pottery, ceramic decoration, surface design and art therapy. Her main inspirations are Nature, tribal art, dance and technology. Ilaria is an avid learner and traveller, a qualified yoga teacher, a tribal fusion belly dancer and a freelance print and graphic designer. She is also the founder and director of Stilelibero and the creator of The Original Cork Yoga Mat.
