Wicked Queen

RichHARD HoffMAN, 2021

Acrylic & ink on paper, framed

W31 x H36 x D6cm frame; W2.5 x H4cm image

RichHARD created the The Subversive Post Office as a concept to offer a highly collectible series of miniature art through subtle provocation. Using genuine postage stamps, he hand-paints each piece to hint at a story and commentary on a wide range of issues. The power of the work plays with the Establishment and iconic popular culture in a post urban fine art format.

In the Wicked Queen, Rich depicts Princess Diana as Snow White with all the details of the fairy tale in the background and questions the role the Queen in a story that ended early? It is painted on a 1998 British stamp in memory of the Princess of Wales and is set appropriately in a gilded antique gold wood frame.
