Mile Long Body of Meissen (Ode to Sylvia)

Chloe McCarrick, 2020

Cyanotype

Print size: D300mm; Framed: 385mm

This work was inspired by Sylvia Plath and her collection of Bee poetry in Ariel. It is handprinted on handmade recycled cotton rag 320gsm paper which is acid free, 100% cotton rag, and PH neutral. The printing process involves the exposure to natural daylight from a couple of hours up to a month at a time, depending on weather conditions, capturing Mother Nature in her purest form. The work is then float mounted in a bespoke handmade circular frame that is a museum grade deep box frame with a smooth black finish and anti-reflective UV protected glass front.

If you wish to purchase this work in a black frame, please enquire info@mintarts.com.

Photographer Chloe McCarrickArtist: Chloe McCarrick

Chloe McCarrick is a renown fine art photographer and mixed-media printmaker. Best known for her circular cyanotypes and still life photography of feathers, she embraces and develops innovative ways of reworking photographic images through collage and mixed-media print techniques, and by blending science, darkroom alchemy and art. Her work explores the boundless possibilities of image production in the age of modern printmaking with an aim to reinvent, recycle, redefine, experiment and preserve.

Female empowerment, natural history and science are recurring themes across Chloe's work. She constructs visual narratives from the lives of extraordinary, trailblazing women - celebrating their achievements, uncovering their struggles and telling the stories of these often unsung heroes. By creating an army of heroes/sheroes, she is attempting to give them a voice, to transform their stories into symbolic pictorial form and in turn hoping these protagonists' positive message inspires others.

"I hope people are empowered by the story behind each piece and that the subject matter ignites imaginations and a curiosity to delve deeper. The key emotion is to feel connected - connected to the story, the techniques and the science behind the work, and to be connected to the elements of nature I introduce to explore human experience and the relationship between each of us, and the world we live in."

Chloe exhibits internationally and her work is collected around the world.
