Everyday Is A Choice

Coralie Huon, 2022

Acrylic & gouache on canvas

Size: W50 x H70 x D2cm

As an ardent climber, Coralie explores in her art the themes of permanence, adapting to change and letting go. Using the mountains and the skies and sun cycles as symbols, these natural elements are metaphors for the need to observe and respect Mother Nature in the face of overwhelming changes that one experiences in life, the acceptance of letting go of the past and starting again, and of life and death.

This paintings expresses that special moment where we feel connected to bigger forces, making us feel we belong and are supported through our human journey, no matter the challenges. It explores the everyday cycles, the choice to start again every single day, every hour, every minute, every second, to reinvent ourselves and find hope in every moment. It is an invitation to integrate the light and dark layers within and be the creator our own life cycles.

All the sides of the canvas are meticulously painted as a continuation of the image. It is best hung without a frame to display the unique edges which gives the painting an eye-catching 3-D dimension.

Coralie HuonArtist: Coralie Huon

Coralie Huon is a multidisciplinary artist and illustrator. Her work is inspired by nature and landscapes, highlighting the beauty of the outdoor world and the interaction of people with these places.

Coralie's art is influenced by her passion for climbing. She discovered climbing in her late twenties and her journey into the arts began after a climbing accident when she drew a graphic novel to document this experience and never stopped drawing since. This eventually led her to explore a new career after a decade of working in interior design and architecture.

Her work focuses on the exploration of our connection to nature and through it, the connection to ourselves. She uses elements of nature as a metaphor, in particular mountains, to express her own personal emotional journey as well as human relationship to the earth, to our inner beings and to others. Her illustrative style blends her precise and detailed linework with geometrical shapes, navigating between her contrasting black and white drawings to her colourful acrylic paintings to create unique graphically bold pieces.
