Using the grain of the board, Rebecca Tucker enjoys the sheer pleasure of the application of paint, taking advantage of the ‘happy accidents’ that occur throughout the process of painting. Layering paint to suggest a sense of place, but then playing with the idea of the push and pull between representing a real landscape and the more abstract details and intrinsic beauty of paint on a surface. A final detail is added in silver leaf to accentuate the flat planes and decorative qualities.

Artist: Rebecca Tucker

Rebecca Tucker is a Lancashire born-London based painter, whose works are the result of a visual ‘discussion’ between abstract and more representational methods of depicting landscape and the natural world. Using colour, texture, line and layers Rebecca is keen to play with the viewers perception of space in artworks (and what would traditionally constitute a ‘landscape’) and then pull that preconceived idea back to the appreciation of what are essentially abstract marks on a two dimensional surface.

Rebecca studied Fine Art at Reading University. She owns and runs a successful interior design company in Wimbledon and has only recently returned to painting in the past year.
