Ceramic and concrete sculpture

Size: W50 x H40 x D20 cm

This is a wall mounted sculptural work that will stand out and bring a "wow" factor to any room. Formed in hollow concrete and ceramic brick tiles, this work depicts urban decay with graffiti lettering and comes with fixings. It is a tribute to the London street artist, Phed, who tragically tragically died while painting a wall.

Artist Simon Shepherd

Artist: Simon Shepherd

Simon Shepherd is a London born artist, now based in Brighton. His work explores the distinctions between the familiar and the unfamiliar. It looks for and develops the beauty and aesthetic of the everyday object and invites the viewer to reassess their expectations and preconceptions of it.

A piece of work will often start with a familiar object which the artist finds to have some inherent beauty. He will then work to develop this, sometimes in a playful way, exploring the potential he sees within. An object may be juxtaposed with unfamiliar surroundings, creating incongruity which challenges the viewer to reconsider its aesthetic value.

Simon has featured in numerous solo and group shows both in the UK and internationally. He has won awards, most notably the ‘Cork Street Open’ award in 2011. His work has been featured in publications such as Aesthetica and Juxtapose.
