    Mixed Media

    Size: W104 x H104 x D5

Space Invader is a nod to the iconic retro arcade games of Mat's childhood. It is made from used coffee capsules and pods, cement, resin and mirrors. The handcut embedded mirrors give a reflective and ever-changing quality to the work, capturing the light and colours in the room. A statement piece that has to be seen!

    Artist Mat KempArtist: Mat Kemp

Mat Kemp is a Yorkshire-born artist currently living, working and exhibiting in London and New York. His sculptures and reliefs combine found and rejected objects with traditional and non-traditional materials. His pieces demonstrate a sense of humour and charm that he considers to be an essential ingredient of life and work. He makes sculptural pieces that reinterpret familiar subjects and materials. He challenges us to examine the visual symbols and incidental forms that we take for granted as we move through our everyday lives, jolting us out of the world we know to somewhere slightly removed from reality.

Mat has degrees from Newcastle University (Fine Art), The Royal College of Art (Bronze Casting) and the Instituto Statale D'Art Florence (Sculpture).
